Artist Statement

This site is by no means “everything” but I do consider it to be a healthy, core sampling of my inquiry.
In “Paintings” I have posted what amounts to the focus of this site, all of it in rough chronological order from oldest to newest.
In “Tornadoes” I have posted imagery concerned with tornadoes per se, also in chronological order.
In “Critters” you will find an array of studies, most of them painted very quickly.
And in “Commissions” there are two labors of love and a family portrait that, while not what I usually do, were opportunities not to be missed…


Signed, numbered, and limited to an edition of 50, each giclee is printed on archival paper and suitable for home, museum, or gallery exhibition.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to visit my old teacher, Wayne Thiebaud, as part of the Independent Painters Association out of Santa Ana, CA. So wonderful to see him again and get a huge refresher on how to consider and discuss this "painting" thing....
